Real Bread Outreach, Inc.
VISION
"If you pour out that with which you sustain your own life for the hungry and satisfy the need of
the afflicted, then shall your light rise in darkness, and your obscurity and gloom become like the
noonday." Isaiah 58:10
Real Bread Outreach is evangelical in its beliefs and is motivated by the love of
God. It is our hope to reach out to the poor, the homeless, the destitute, the
needy, the young, the old, and the afflicted. Our vision is to bring hope to the
hopeless. It is our hope that by meeting the physical needs of others, the door
will be opened to meet the spiritual and emotional needs as well.
Real Bread Outreach will draw from the knowledge of Brad and Sue Becker
who have been teaching others the benefits of healthy eating since 1992, in
particular, the benefits of freshly milled whole grains. Sue has studied
extensively the health issues related to the lack of whole grains in the diet of
Americans and the ill effect of processed foods, especially white flour and white
sugar on one’s health. She has shared this knowledge with others as well as the
practical steps to making bread from freshly milled whole grains. Real Bread
Outreach shares the conviction that these dietary changes can bring great
improvement to ones health. We have watched the health of countless families
improve significantly as these simple dietary changes were incorporated into
their lives.
Real Bread Outreach has a particular burdened for those who are not
financially and/or physically able to make the investment necessary to
incorporate such dietary changes into their lives. America’s health has declined
drastically over the past few years. When sickness prevails, and one is unable
to make changes either because of physical and/or financial limitations,
hopelessness can take over. It is the vision of Real Bread Outreach to help
meet these needs and to bring hope to the hopeless. We are passionate about
our convictions and the belief that these changes can drastically improve ones
quality of life.
Particular areas of ministry:
Past Activities
1. In November 2007 we partnered with a church and supplied real whole
grain dinner rolls for 1500 Thanksgiving meals taken to shut-ins.
2. In December 2007 we partnered with a local church to give a Gospel
Tract and a loaf of real whole grain bread to each visitor at a Christmas
outreach.
Planned Activities
1. To the elderly and shut-ins: Many of the health issues facing the elderly
could be significantly reduced if their diets were improved, but they are
often limited financially and physically. We would like to supply real
whole grain bread as well as other nutritious foods (fresh fruits and
vegetables etc.) to the elderly through personal visitation as well as
partnering with other food ministries to the elderly. Visitation will be
done by volunteers as well as any of the board members. Sue Becker will
be responsible for training volunteers. Our primary area of focus will be
Canton, Woodstock and Kennesaw, GA but we will reach out where ever
there is a known need. The supplies will be either purchased with money
raised through donations or the goods will be from donations.
2. Whole foods food bank – Most food banks are limited to donations and
therefore the food is mostly canned and processed foods, white breads
and cereals. Real Bread Outreach would like to offer real whole grain
breads and fresh fruits and vegetables as well as other healthier options.
We would like to both partner with existing food ministries as well as
establish our own. Volunteers will help run the facility. It will probably
be in Cherokee County, GA and will be funded through donations to the
ministry. Funding will have to be raised to purchase a suitable building
3. We would like to educate needy families especially those with young
children, about the benefits of healthy eating then supply them with the
tools and support to make these wiser choices. It is our hope that in
doing so we could drastically improve the health of these families, thereby
reducing the need for medical care. This would then relieve some of the
burden of the cost of health care from both the family as well as
government institutions.
4. Evangelical Outreach – Through visitation and helping those in need it is
our hope to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others.
5. Institutional Outreaches – To help train institutions, such as prisons,
detention centers, nursing homes, public and private schools, to
incorporate healthy foods into their food service.
6. Conduct studies to verify the improved health benefits of whole grain
bread and foods to justify the importance to health and therefore help
relieve the burden of health care on both private and governmental
establishments. This could hopefully be funded by grants.
