Urgent Need for Real Bread Outreach
Urgent Need for Real Bread Outreach
Many of you, I am sure, know of the horrific and widespread civil unrest and gang violence happening in Haiti. It was mostly contained in Port au Prince until last month. The gangs migrated north and took over the city of Mirebalais. Mirebalais is the home of GVCM, an orphanage housing more than 150 children and staff. GVCM is where we began our first bread program in Haiti in 2016. And until last month, a group of young men were still making bread every day to feed the children that live there.
However, with the gang invasion, ...
Real Bread Outreach – How it Began
“I do not think I am suppose to make bread for the world, I think I am supposed to teach the world to make bread for themselves.” - Sue Becker, 1992
These words spoken by Sue Becker, to her husband Brad, in October of 1992, drastically changed their lives. They had no idea the impact these words would have, for even years to come. That was more than 30 years ago, and these words have definitely been more powerful than either of them could have ever imagined!
It was that very moment that Bread Beckers was born, and since then, they have had the privilege of reaching ...
Cast Your Bread On Many Waters
From the first moment God gave me the word from Ecclesiastes 11:1 “Cast your bread on many waters” and I wrote in my journal the question to God “what waters?”, I have been continually reminded, mostly by Brad, that God said “many waters”.
Since 2016, when God first called us to bring real bread to Haiti, I have made 15 trips to Haiti, we have trained and supported 3 teams of bread bakers that are making bread from freshly ground flour to feed countless school children and the kids that live in the orphanages. With your support, we have shipped numerous ...
Real Bread Outreach Update – Our Trip to Tanzania
Thank you to everyone for the support and prayers for our trip. It was successful! We were able to purchase all the equipment needed to outfit the new bakery at the Potter’s Center in Visaga, Tanzania. This discipleship center functions to equip new believers with the truth of God’s word as well as vocational life skills. The new bakery will not only be used to prepare nutritious food and bread for those in the discipleship school, it will also be a part of the vocational training.
We found locally grown wheat and rice, which we used to make some traditional African ...
Recalling the Miracles of 2019 and Looking Ahead with 2020 Vision
This is long, because there is so much to
share! I hope you will read until the end, for the best is yet to come.
As 2019 draws to a close, I am reminded of all the
blessings brought forth throughout this past year. Though 2018 ended in sorrow
for me personally, with the sudden and unexpected death of my dad, 2019 began
with joy and confirmation of the direction of Real Bread Outreach. And as I
reflect back over the year, I stand in awe of all that God has done.
When God first called us to go to Haiti, the vision of a
bakery was expressed. The goal to ...

Build a Bakery in Haiti – Thanks to You – The Vision is Becoming a Reality!
Thanks to you the building of the bakery in Gonaives Haiti has begun. With your help, we raised enough funds to begin construction. The container filled with wheat and bakery equipment is on the water and should be out of customs this week in time for our arrival. We will need $10,000 more to complete the project but we believe “change is coming” (see below).
August 2019 – Haiti Trip
Brad and I will be traveling to Haiti on August 18-26th, to check on the progress. I will be ...
Spread the Bread – Haiti Update
With sincere intentions I thought that I would be diligent to regularly update our website. But here I am three years later finally adding a post. But as you will read from the update below, we have been very busy.
It has been 3 years now since God called us to Haiti. In March of 2016 we made our first trip. Though it seems like such a short time ago, in some ways it is hard to remember a time when a love for the people of Haiti was not a part of my life. The call to “cast our bread on many waters” has truly been a light unto our feet.
Several weeks ago, I ...
Ezekiel Bread Recipe
This is a very sweet, moist, cake-like bread. For a more traditional bread texture, I have used flour made from this combination of grains and beans in the Basic Bread Recipe from the The Beckers Recipe Collection Cookbook, replacing the 4 ½ cups of flour called for with about 5 ½ cups of flour from the Ezekiel mixture of grains in this recipe. You may also add fruits and nuts or use the flour made from this mixture in other favorite recipes. This healthy combination of grains and beans is worth experimenting with. Combining grains and beans makes a complete protein.
And if you pour out that with which you sustain your own life for the hungry and satisfy the need of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in darkness, and your obscurity and gloom become like the noonday. - Isaiah 58:10
